High School Sports Stats

Minimized error rates and saved an hour of work during one the most intense time of the night by creating a web application to handle the recording of every high school sports game in Pierce County.

Challenge

I had two months to determine what tasks could be handed-off to computers, and then create a tool to handle these tasks.

This was also my largest web application to date. I was also the only developer in the newsroom.

Results

This web application has saved much time and reduced many errors. Duplicate call-ins now became opportunities to confirm accuracy. The spelling of players' names were minimized by showing the roster from each team's previous game.

At the end of the day, the results were available instantly.

In all, the sports department was excited by the time savings and reduced effort needed to get the game scores to print.
