Project: Lead Web Engineer for SEO Protocol

While working at SEO Protocol, over the course of a year I advanced from "turning a Photoshop mockup into a website" to becoming the technical expert for our small creative agency, managing all aspects of our clients’ website needs—ranging from coding to client communication to project tracking. This allowed the owner to dedicate more time to their expertise in SEO strategies and client acquisition.

Over time, I developed rapport with our clients, gaining insight into their underlying goals and offering strategic advice to optimize development costs. This approach led to increased client trust and confidence in our agency. The owner consistently relied on my technical judgment to advise against fragile, high-maintenance solutions and to recommend more viable alternatives.

In addition to my technical contributions, I utilized my experience in spreadsheets and my attention to detail to independently manage the full array of client requests—whether via email, phone, or passed along by the owner—ensuring none were overlooked. My attention to detail was even commended and rewarded by one client.

When new technical challenges arose, I took the initiative to learn the necessary skills. Whether it was acquiring a practical understanding of mobile design principles to troubleshoot responsive web design issues, configuring SPF records to solve email delivery problems, or studying WordPress plugin best practices to ensure scalable solutions, I always sought to expand my expertise.

To support the company’s long-term success, I also created comprehensive documentation, such as internal instructions for creating new website variants when one client wanted to enter new geographic markets, checklists for updating near-identical websites for another client, and the steps (and gotchas) when we needed to add new users to yet another client’s proprietary web application. This documentation enabled a smooth transition after my departure and ensured continuity for both clients and the owner.
